Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) is a specialized form of speech therapy that combines auditory, visual, and tactile stimulation to improve speech clarity, especially for individuals with placement and movement deficits. It complements traditional speech treatments by incorporating tactile-proprioceptive techniques, benefiting clients with motor and sensory impairments. OPT focuses on articulator awareness, placement, stability, and muscle memory, crucial for clear speech development.

Applicable across ages and abilities, OPT addresses various speech disorders such as dysarthria, apraxia of speech, voice disorders, and more. It is particularly helpful for clients who haven’t found success with traditional methods due to underlying movement or placement issues.
